Walking the dog

My mom and dad were walking Inky and Lemon yesterday; they always do before they go to bed. So, it was dark out. Hey, you could say 'it was a dark and stormy night,' 'cause it was. They finished the walk without incident. My mom opens the front door and walks inside. She turns around to hold the door open for my dad, and then starts talking to him for a while.

*time passes*

Mom: Hey, where's the puppy? *looks at end of leash* Where did he go? I could've sworn he was here.

Dad: Oh no! Where could he have gone? *starts running around looking frantically for Inky* Inky... INKY!!!

Mom: *still looking at end of leash* How did he...?

Dad: *runs to see if Inky got into the cat food (again)* Inky? IIIIIIIIInky!

Mom: *still looking at end of leash* Huh? *blinks*

Dad: *takes flashlight and runs outside to search* IIIIIIIIINNNNNNNKKKKKKKYYYYY!

Mom: I give up! How he do it?

Dad: *comes back* I can't find him!

Mom: Oh, wait. I remember now! I took him off the leash before I opened the door for you!

Dad: Oh, great!

Mom: We'll look for him tomorrow morning, don't worry. *walks to kitchen* I'm going to take Lemon out to do his business. *opens glass door to the back yard*

At this moment, Inky, who has been patiently waiting by the glass door for someone to let him in, gets up and calmly walks in.

Mom: *mouth is hanging open*

Dad: *mouth is hanging open*

Well, what can I say? Oh, wait! There they are! After them! *runs away to return a moment later with parents* Say hi, everyone!

Mom: Ah! No! Get me away from this... thing! (my mom has a talent with computers... that is, she has the talent to look at one and crash it)

Dad: teatimeatmyzoo.blogspot.com, hmm? *writes it down* Ok, thank you. *bows*

Me: Ok, bye!

P.S: Just so that people don't get strange ideas, 99.9% of this is made-up. I heard the story from my mom this morning, and I decided to elaborate, embellish, and generally make-better the story. Also, aside from my mom's talent with computers, my parents aren't really like that. I just felt this would be the best way to make it more interesting by having everyone run around.
The little dog that started it all!

The Other Day

I was playing with Lemon and Inky. Inky was running around with a stick in his mouth, trying to get Lemon to play. Well, Lemon decided that he did want to have the stick after all, and started chasing Inky. Poor Lemon! He was never a fast dog, and Inky, is, well, Inky. Inky was running circles around Lemon, avoiding the rabbit pen in the middle (we use it in summer for our two rabbits), and Lemon suddenly had this burst of inspiration! While Inky was going around the pen, he could just go through and catch him on the other side! He ran and jumped over the fence, slowed down, and found he was stuck in the middle! With not enough room to gain speed, he wouldn't be able to jump over the other side and so, he had to just stand there, looking pathetic. Inky, meanwhile, was running victory laps around the outside of the pen, looking for all the world as if it had been his idea all along. Of course, I couldn't let Lemon just stay there, so I had to get him out. Lifting a full-grown retriever isn't easy, especially if you're not exactly fit!

Lemon, when he's not in need of rescue

Hi, and welcome to my blog!

This is not really going to go into any detail just yet. At least, this post isn't, because you'd be totally lost about what I was saying. So for right now, I'm going to give you a more thorough introduction:

*clears throat*
Hi, and welcome to my blog! It's about all of my pets- well, most of them are my pets, but some of them aren't. I've got so many of them that my mother calls our house a zoo (but that's partly her fault, too). Hence, the name of the blog. Here are most of the pets that will probably turn up:

Lemon: He's a patient golden retriever who would do anything for a piece of food or a cuddle from someone he considers a friend (i.e. everyone). Just don't get on his bad side (he doesn't have one!).
Inky: a 'teenaged' black lab who is being trained to be a seeing-eye dog by yours truly. Always abundantful of energy, he loves food as much as Lemon does. Maybe even more (*gasp!* is it possible?) He bosses poor little (big?) Lemon around, but they're friends.
Smokey: grey and white, Smokey was found abandoned on the street and brought into the shelter where we found and adopted him. Now, he loves to sleep on cushions and claw random objects. He loves the dogs, and tolerates them, which is more than I could say for...
Charm: a black short hair cat, she hates dogs, but would let a human get away with the cat-equivalent of murder. Not that anyone has tried...
Tawny: a rat with a sweet tooth that has gotten her into trouble more than once. I've had her since she was a little rat no bigger than the palm of my hand (in fact, she was smaller!). She's got a 'hood' coloring, which means she has a different color head & back and a white rest-of-body. I lurves her very much.

This be my rat, Tawny
